Trust

Writing a novel is all about trust:

Trusting that you can do it.
Trusting ideas will come.
Trusting that you can entertain others as well as you can entertain yourself.

The early edits are all about trust too:

Trusting in your writing group (in my case the incredibly trustworthy Nomads)
Trusting in early readers who assure that it's not fit only for the dustbin
And maintaining trust in the process when literary agents send rejection letters

Trust has paid dividends.
